Step-by-step process

A clear pathway from first enquiry to treatment.

Everything starts with a simple conversation. We then help co-ordinate the clinic communication, travel details and support around your planned treatment.

Step 1

Information contact

  1. You speak with an Australian living in Melbourne who has personally been through the process and can answer your questions.
  2. Tell us what treatment you would like and send through any photos or X-rays.
  3. We send all your information to the overseas clinic and then they will send us a total treatment cost breakdown and how many days you will need to be there for the treatment.
  4. Once you have received the estimate for your dental treatment and the time needed to be overseas, you can then decide to go to the next step.
Step 2

Next step

  • Let us know the date you are planning to travel.
  • We check clinic availability and confirm the day you need to attend.
  • Once your flights are booked, we help with your Vietnam visa requirements.
  • We arrange accommodation with breakfast supplied.
  • You receive your translator’s contact details before you arrive.
  • Your translator assists you through immigration and travels with you to the hotel.
  • You are picked up and driven to the clinic when treatment begins.
Step 3

Clinic process

First day

  1. You go to the 6th floor for all relevant X-rays.
  2. You go to the 5th floor for clinical photos.
  3. You meet with the dentist and translator to discuss your requirements.
  4. You discuss the costs for your dental treatment.
  5. At no stage is any pressure applied. You are given time to consider your treatment plan, even if you need to return to your hotel and think it over.
Once you approve the treatment plan

Payment will need to be made to the clinic before treatment can commence.

You can speak with Dino in Melbourne and ask practical questions before you decide whether overseas dental treatment is right for you.

Why I started Your Smile Journey

I found out first-hand how expensive dental treatment can be in Australia.

For me, it started with one broken bridge. The bridge snapped off, and the tooth underneath also broke. I went to three different dentists in Melbourne. After the X-rays and consultations, the treatment I was quoted included one root canal, one implant and three crowns. Depending on the dentist, the total cost was around $12,000 to $15,000.

Honestly, I could not believe how expensive it was.

Because I had previously worked in Malaysia and had dental treatment done there, I knew how different the costs could be compared with Australia. I started researching other overseas options and looked into clinics in India, Malaysia, Croatia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.

I also had to take into account the total cost of the trip, including the dental treatment, flights and accommodation. Even after allowing for all of that, it was still so much cheaper that I could hardly believe it. After speaking with the clinic and feeling comfortable with the communication and pricing, I booked my flight that same weekend.

My reason

Why Vietnam?

I decided to go to Vietnam because the communication was quick, the responses were simple and easy to understand, and the price was much more affordable for the same high-quality dental work as in Australia.

Australian quote$12K–$15K
Overseas estimate$3K–$4K

Once I arrived and had a full consultation with the dentist, I realised I could do much more than just fix the broken bridge. I had the opportunity to improve my whole smile for almost the same amount I was going to pay in Australia for the relatively small amount of work they had quoted. This was something I had always wanted to do, but could never afford in Australia, so I did it — and it was worth every dollar. The confidence I feel when I smile now has changed the way I feel and carry myself.

That experience is why I created Your Smile Journey.

This website is not just about what happened to me. It is here to help Australians facing expensive dental quotes understand that you can SAVE THOUSANDS of dollars overseas for the same high-quality dental work.

My personal treatment journey

A real example of the process I personally went through.

This section shows my own treatment journey so you can see what the process looked like in real life. Your treatment plan, cost, healing time and dental advice may be different, but my experience helps me explain the journey more clearly before you decide.

My own case 17 crowns • 4 implants • 2 bone grafts • temporary teeth • final treatment after healing
What this means for you

I went through the same practical questions most people have: Is the clinic organised? Who picks me up? How does the translator help? How long do I need to stay? What happens after implants? That experience allows me to explain the process in plain language.

My Final Treatment – 3 Months Later

Because I had implants fitted, I needed to allow around three months for the bone to heal and integrate around the implants. At the final appointment, the temporary bridges are removed and the new crowns are fitted to complete the treatment.

Questions to ask before you travel

Clear answers before you make a decision.

How do I start?

Start with an initial conversation. You explain what treatment you are considering, then send photos or X-rays so clinics can review your case.

When do I know the cost?

After your images and information are reviewed by the overseas clinic, you receive a cost breakdown and the estimated time you need to be overseas.

Do you help with travel?

Yes. We help co-ordinate clinic dates, visa requirements for Vietnam, accommodation, translator contact and pick-up support.

Is treatment completed in one trip?

It depends on the treatment plan. Implant cases can require final treatment after approximately three months, once the bone has integrated with the implants.

Better smile. Better life. Better value.
